The Campfire Song, by Gentlemen On The Road

 

Intro

A dark and misty summer night

and slowly I was taking fright 

reflected somethin' safe and warm

and so I wrote this Campfire Song.

 

These evenings with friends of mine

spent in the fires shine

a fellowship of scouts we were

just sittin' there

and drinking beer

 

Beside the fires warming light

nobody had to fright

'cause darknes was suspended yet 

-a feelin' that I won't forget

 

But there is one thing that was never wrong,

and this was a Campfire Song

 

'Cause they tell stories in the fires light

and I hope darkness will be far tonight

so that the shadows of the night

won't break into my mind

Wenn in einer kühlen Sommernacht ein Lagerfeuer brennt, man von vorne die Wärme spührt und sich im Rücken Kälte und Dunkelheit breit macht, wenn Umrisse zu bösartigen Kreaturen werden, dann ist es ein Lagerfeuer und ein Lied, das dies alles vertreibt.

Und wenn es mal fernab vom Lagerfeuer dunkel und kalt wird, vielleicht hilft es ja im Geiste ein Lagerfeuer zu entzünden und sich zu erinnern, an das Lagerfeuerlied - "The Campfire Song".
